Brass Eyelets
Solid brass eyelets are the specification choice for curtain work that has to last. Brass does not rust, so it holds its finish in bathrooms, kitchens and coastal properties where a plated ring would eventually mark the fabric, and it is the only material in our range stocked in the full run of sizes from 25mm to 66mm.
Every eyelet here is a pressed two-part ring and washer, set with a hand tool or an eyelet machine for a clean, permanent header. Ten finishes are held in stock in packs of 25 or 100, with bulk pricing for trade accounts. Working to a tighter budget on dry-room curtains? The 40mm steel eyelets range carries the core finishes at a lower pack price.

Solid brass or brass-finish steel?
Two products on the site look alike in the basket and behave very differently at the window. Every eyelet in this category is solid brass right through the ring and washer. The brass-finish steel eyelets in our steel range are plated steel with a brass colour, made for volume domestic and contract work in dry rooms. Use the table to pick the right one for the job.
| Solid brass eyelets (this page) | Brass-finish steel eyelets | |
|---|---|---|
| Base metal | Solid brass, a copper and zinc alloy | Steel with a plated finish |
| Corrosion | Will not rust. Uncoated brass slowly develops an even patina | Protected by the plating only |
| Sizes stocked | 25mm, 40mm, 50mm and 66mm | 40mm |
| Finishes | Ten, including black nickel, black matte and silver milk | Seven core finishes |
| Pack price | From £7.92 per pack of 25 | From £5.94 per pack of 25 |
| Best for | Wet rooms, coastal and outdoor textiles, thick poles and specification jobs | Bedrooms, living rooms and contract runs where unit cost decides the quote |
Choosing a size
Brass eyelets are sized by the diameter of the hole, not the outer ring. Allow at least 10mm of clearance between pole and hole so the curtain glides instead of dragging.
| Eyelet size (hole) | Suits poles up to | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 25mm | 16mm | Voiles, sheers, cafe curtains and lighter hardware |
| 40mm | 28mm | The curtain standard. Most domestic and contract headers |
| 50mm | 35mm | Heavier interlined curtains and thicker poles |
| 66mm | 50mm | Statement headers and oversized poles |
Ten finishes, one base metal
Because every finish is applied to the same solid brass ring, the colour stays consistent from batch to batch and you can mix finishes across a project without any change in size or fit. Antique brass and gunmetal are the steady sellers for traditional and contemporary schemes respectively.

Fitting brass eyelets
Brass is slightly softer than steel, so it rolls and sets cleanly under a press without cracking, and its extra weight helps a heavy header hang evenly along the pole.
You will need a tool
These are pressed two-part eyelets, not clip-on rings, so they cannot be fitted by hand. Use a hand tool for occasional work or a press from our eyelet machine range for regular volumes.
Stiffen the header first
Fuse a strip of eyelet buckram into the header so the punch cuts a clean hole and the fabric does not pucker around the ring.
Work in even numbers
Always an even number of eyelets so both edges return towards the wall, spaced roughly 15cm to 20cm apart. A single fabric width usually takes eight.

Are these eyelets solid brass or brass-plated?
Everything in this category is solid brass right through the ring and washer. If you want a brass look at a lower pack price for dry-room curtains, the brass-finish 40mm eyelet in our steel range is plated steel.
